I have always admired Audrey Hepburn. It is not only her outer beauty but also her inner beauty that is the most attractive part of her. Even after so many years of her death, Audrey Hepburn is still considered to be one of the most admired celebrities of today.
Audrey Kathleen Ruston, more famously known as Audrey Hepburn, was born on May 04, 1929, in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium. She was a British actress, and a humanitarian.
The first ever film she appeared was in 1948. That same year, she moved to London to pursue on her ballet career. She worked as a part time model as well as a chorus girl in the musical theaters. It was during one of her performances that a casting director noticed her, and registered her with the Associated British Picture Corporation. By 1951, Hepburn had appeared in minor roles in several movies, before she was cast in her first ever major supporting role.
Throughout her career, Audrey Hepburn gifted us with amazing movies such as “The Roman Holiday”, “Sabrina”, “War and Peace”, “My Fair Lady”, “Mary Poppins”, “Paris When it Sizzles”, “Charade”, and of course, “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” It was the latter movie that made her a fashion icon. The “little black dress” is still an iconic dress made by Givenchy. Her beauty combined with her sense of fashion, and the way she carried herself, soon made her a well sought public figure. She is one of the 14 people in Hollywood who won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award. It was during her dazzling career that she was picked as the Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. In recognisation of her work, the then US President George W. Bush awarded her the “Presidential Medal of Freedom”.
Audrey Hepburn was married twice. Her first marriage was to Mel Ferrer (1954-1968), and the second was to Andrea Dotti (1969-1982). Later, Robert Wolders was her partner from 1980 to 1993, till her death.
Hepburn had a rare cancer, appendiceal cancer. Her cancer spread throughout her small intestine that it was impossible to operate and remove it. She was flown, on a flower-filled private jet sent by Givenchy, from Los Angeles to Geneva. It was there in her own home in Tolochenaz, Vaud, Switzerland that she died in her sleep. This was on the evening of 20 January, 1993.
Here are some classy quotes from this talented, beautiful human being that every girl needs to remember.
