Written by Tim Castle

If you’re not getting the time you’d like to for reading, I hear you. With the pressures to achieve at work at an all-time high, the constant demands of the executive team, daily ongoings of your family, significant other or friends, birthdays, Zoom calls, and not to mention your burning desire to be the best you can be, it can be hard to fit it all in.

This is in fact an understatement! In fact, it’s surprising to think that we have time to do anything else, and it can almost feel like we know what to do but can’t find the time to actually do it! I am going to share with you the top 10 self-help podcasts that can help you keep your personal development tank full while being on-the-go so you can win at life.

It’s common knowledge that reading books is a superb way to improve your mindset and surround yourself with an abundance of new perspectives. But managing our reading output can get waylaid given all of the above.

When we think about the 1440 minutes we each have in a day, how many of those do we actually spend deeply engrossed in the latest Adam Grant release? We can’t all be like Warren Buffett and spend 5 hours a day reading—or can we?

Podcasts have changed the game. They are a window in your pocket into the minds of the brightest people on the planet. When it’s minutes on the board that count, it’s time to seriously consider getting into podcasts. The world is only going one way and that is voice and audio.

Look at Clubhouse—the latest social network to come out of Silicon Valley, it has taken the world by storm and is quickly becoming the medium for self-help leaders and podcasters to debate via drop-in audio chat.

In comparison, self-help podcasts are how you get ahead in life and surround yourself with the highest quality content that aligns with your identity and the person you want to become. No longer are we bound by the physical—the introduction of audio means we can double down and do it all.

Podcasts are a fantastic way to integrate self-help whether you listen to it while at the gym, on your commute, walking the baby in the pram while trying to get her to sleep, during your lunch break, or even in the shower. It all makes a difference. This is where you can hammer in the minutes and move the dial in your direction so that you can succeed in life.

Now that you’re convinced podcasts are the future, I’m going to share with you the top 10 best self-help podcasts to get your fix and ensure you feel like you’re investing in yourself daily. But first, here‘s my top tip before we get started.

The way to maximize your growth output in this arena—much like brain coach Jim Kwiks’ speed reading—is to increase the audio speed to 1.5 times. I know that you’re probably wondering, “won’t that be too fast for me to make sense of it”—the answer is a resounding ‘no’.

After a few minutes, your brain will adjust to the speed and the tempo actually won’t feel that fast and you’ll have the added benefit of consuming 50% more content within the same timeframe. Trust me, this is how you accelerate, it’s a formula.
